Home-Generated Sharps Waste Now Accepted at City Hall

The City of Laguna Woods is pleased to announce that needles, lancets, and other home-generated sharps waste can now be dropped off at City Hall, 24264 El Toro Road, Laguna Woods, CA 92637, at no charge. In addition to the City’s popular sharps waste mail-back program, residents now have the option of hand-delivering sharps waste to City Hall anytime during regular business hours. For everyone’s safety, residents must place sharps waste in a rigid and needle puncture-resistant container (e.g., laundry detergent bottles, soda bottles, or medical sharps containers) before leaving home. Loose materials cannot be accepted.

“Very few cities offer free sharps waste collection,” said Noel Hatch of the Laguna Woods City Council. “We are excited to offer this new service, which we hope will make it all the more convenient to safely dispose of unwanted needles. Keeping sharps waste out of the trash helps to protect people and our environment.”
